The Cape Breton Regional Council has voted to support veterans in their fight to save the Veterans Affairs office in Sydney by supporting a rally to protest the closure.
Veterans are organizing a March of Concern on Nov. 9, to protest the federal government's planned shutdown of nine Veteran Affairs offices across the country — including the one in Sydney.
Ronald Clarke, a veteran, spoke at the Cape Breton Regional Council meeting on Tuesday about his 36 years of service in the Canadian military.

Marine Atlantic Ferry Service
Marine Atlantic provides an essential transportation service between Newfoundland and Labrador and the mainland portion of Canada.
The Canadian Forces Appreciation Fare is available to qualified individuals on a year-round basis for Marine Atlantic's Port aux Basques/North Sydney and Argentia/North Sydney ferry services. The fare will be applied to new and existing reservations for individuals who qualify. Members of the Canadian Forces may book this travel as often as they wish.
